What Our Confined Space Training Course Provides
Once you’ve completed the theory component, you’ll move on to practical training. Our hands-on sessions are designed to build your confidence and fully prepare you for real-world scenarios. By blending engaging, interactive theory with comprehensive practical experience, our course ensures you’re well-equipped to work safely in confined spaces.

A statement of attainment for the unit RIIWHS202E serves as formal documentation of your ability to handle a situation where you’ll be required to work in a confined space. There are a range of professions that may require our program; however, it should be noted that there are no prerequisites for students who need our Confined Space Training in Brisbane. Some of these roles include engineers, site inspectors, civil construction workers, risk managers, electricians, transport personnel, miners and more.
The theory training must be completed prior to the course start date. The theory assessment paperwork must also be completed prior to attending the course at FMS. The face-to-face practical session runs for about half a day once you have completed the online theory training and theory assessment at home.

Confined Space Refresher Training
Who can do the refresher? The $160 Confined Space refresher is for people who already hold a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, or the equivalent earlier unit RIIWHS202D (as listed on training.gov.au). There is no time limit on when your certificate was issued.
The refresher runs the same hybrid way as the full course: about half a day of theory online first, then a half-day practical session face to face at our Lawnton training centre.
To enrol you need:
- A Statement of Attainment from a registered training organisation showing RIIWHS202E or RIIWHS202D
- Photo ID, such as your driver’s licence
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Wallet cards are not accepted unless they meet the requirements for a Statement of Attainment. If you send a USI transcript instead, it must show its QR verification code.

In this course, you will learn essential safety protocols, hazard identification, risk control measures, and how to safely enter and work in confined spaces. You'll also receive hands-on training in the proper use of safety equipment and emergency procedures.
No prior experience is needed for the full course. If you already hold a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS202E or the equivalent earlier unit RIIWHS202D, you can do the $160 refresher instead.
There is no fixed government date. Queensland's Confined Spaces Code of Practice 2021 says refresher training should be provided as appropriate for each workplace, depending on how often workers enter or work in confined spaces. Your employer or site sets the rule. If you hold RIIWHS202E or the equivalent earlier unit RIIWHS202D, the FMS Training refresher is $160.
Yes. RIIWHS202E is a nationally recognised unit, so a Statement of Attainment from any registered training organisation in Australia is accepted in Queensland. Your employer or site refresher rule still applies.
