Yes. TLIF0009 Ensure the safety of transport activities is a nationally recognised unit of competency on the national training register, delivered by FMS Training as a registered training organisation (RTO 45189). On competent completion you receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
What's the difference between TLIF0009 and the CoR Awareness course?
TLIF0009 is the accredited unit that results in a Statement of Attainment; the CoR Awareness course is non-accredited and issues a Certificate of Completion. Choose TLIF0009 when you need a formal, accredited credential for a role with a Chain of Responsibility duty; choose Awareness for general understanding.
Who needs the accredited TLIF0009 unit?
Parties in the chain with a formal CoR duty — consignors and consignees, packers, loaders and unloaders, schedulers, operators and drivers, and managers responsible for transport activities — particularly where an employer requires evidence of accredited competency.
Can I complete TLIF0009 online?
Yes. FMS delivers TLIF0009 online and Australia-wide, with an onsite option for teams. The practical assessment can be completed in a way that suits your workplace.
How are you assessed in TLIF0009?
Assessment is competency-based — covering knowledge of Chain of Responsibility duties under the Heavy Vehicle National Law plus application to real transport activities. You must be assessed as competent to receive the Statement of Attainment.
Does TLIF0009 expire or need renewing?
A Statement of Attainment for a unit of competency does not legally expire. However, because Chain of Responsibility law evolves — including the HVNL reform commencing 1 August 2026 — periodic refresher training is recommended to keep duty-holders current.
Is TLIF0009 valid Australia-wide?
Yes. Nationally recognised units are valid across all Australian states and territories, and Chain of Responsibility under the Heavy Vehicle National Law applies nationally (except WA and the NT, which have parallel arrangements).
How long does TLIF0009 take?
It's designed to be completed efficiently around work; most learners finish in a short, self-paced timeframe, with the accredited assessment completed once the content is covered.

FMS training was excellent. Joy was incredibly helpful in the build up, and Byron was a splendid tutor who owes a lot of his success to damage and death, and timeless but out of key vocal work. The atmosphere there is chilled and the method of learning is exactly to my style, good humoured and relaxed but thorough. Loads of practical practice before assessment. Let’s not forget a shout out for Dan the assessor! (I think that’s his full name). Cheers very much FMS, now this Pom gets a massive $30 a fortnight pay raise! Whoop whoop!

This course is very well structured. Our instructor Byron takes extra time to explain anything you are not sure about regarding how to operate a forklift. Loved this course.
