Is the Forklift Licence Test Hard to Pass? (Brisbane, 2026)

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Is the forklift licence test hard to pass?

Not if you put in the practice. At FMS Training you spend most of a full training day on the forklifts, then sit your test on a separate day that is booked when you pay: $499 weekday or $599 weekend at our Lawnton training centre in north Brisbane. If you don’t pass, your first re-sit is free, on a later test day within 4 weeks. RTO 45189.

Everyone learns differently, so if you need extra help we can arrange additional practice or individual support before your test. Many of our students say in their Google reviews that they felt nervous at first but were quickly put at ease by our trainers, and left feeling confident and ready. FMS Training holds a 4.9-star Google rating and won Outstanding Education Service at the Moreton Bay Local Business Awards in 2025 and 2026.

Tips to pass your forklift test first time

  • Ask questions on your training day — our trainers would rather explain something twice than see you guess on test day.
  • Revise the theory between your training and test days — the gap between the two days is your built-in study time.
  • Get a good night’s sleep and arrive early — nerves fade quickly once you are moving through familiar tasks.
  • Tell us if reading or writing is not your strong suit — our trainers are experienced at supporting learners with language, literacy and numeracy needs, so let us know when you book.

Frequently asked questions

What does the forklift licence test involve?

Forklift licences in Queensland are issued by WorkSafe Queensland, and every training provider assesses the same nationally recognised unit (TLILIC0003). At FMS Training your test is with an accredited assessor on a separate day from your training, so you are never rushed into being tested before you have had time to take it all in.

What happens if I fail my forklift test?

At FMS Training your first re-sit is free for bookings from 1 November 2026. We book you into a later test day within 4 weeks, and you can get extra practice first if you need it. The $113.41 WorkSafe Queensland licence fee is paid to WorkSafe, only after you pass.

What happens if I’m not ready on test day?

No drama. If you or your trainer feel you need more time, we can arrange additional practice or individual support before you sit the test. We would rather you pass confidently than scrape through.

Do I need forklift experience before the course?

No. The training day is built for complete beginners. You need to be 18 or older and bring 100 points of ID. Training is at our Lawnton training centre, close to Strathpine, Petrie, North Lakes and Caboolture.

How much is a forklift licence course at FMS Training?

$499 on a weekday or $599 on a weekend, for the training day and the separate test day, both booked when you pay. Your first re-sit is free if you don’t pass. The WorkSafe Queensland licence fee is paid separately to WorkSafe. RTO 45189.
